Data sovereignty ​

Root Network exists because the value created from the open web should flow back to the people whose connections make access to it possible. That is a statement about ownership, and it shapes how the protocol is built.

The resource is yours ​

Your bandwidth is a resource you already pay for. When the network uses part of it, you are paid for that use directly, in dollars, at a rate you can see. The network does not accumulate a claim on your connection; every settlement window is closed and paid.

Your activity is not the product ​

Root Network is frequently compared to advertising networks or data brokers. The comparison fails on the first question: what is being sold? Root Network sells access to the public web through residential connections. It does not sell, collect or observe anything about you. The extension has no access to your tabs, history, cookies, form data or files, and the traffic it relays is sealed so that it cannot read it even in principle.

Labs get access, not people ​

An AI lab using Root Network receives web pages. It does not receive contributor identities, IP addresses over time, or any signal that would let it correlate deliveries to a household. Nodes are referenced by rotating identifiers in lab-facing records.

Control stays with you ​

  • You set the allocation and can pause instantly.
  • You choose which devices participate.
  • You can export every delivery attributed to you and every payment made to you.
  • You can leave at any time, and your balance remains yours.

What the network keeps ​

To operate, Root Network stores: your account identifier and payout wallet, your nodes' public keys and heartbeats, verified delivery receipts (destination hashes, byte counts, timings), settlements and payouts. It does not store request or response contents, because it never has them.
